Inspired by the stained glass window & floor at St Barnabas Chapel
This quilt is inspired by the William Morris made, & Sir Edward Burne-Jones designed, stained glass Rose window and the tiled floor at St Barnabas Chapel, Norfolk Island. This magnificent church is a quilter's dream in regards to the inspiration it offers to quilt designers. Designing this quilt provided an insight into the complexities faced by designers living in an era which lacked the technology we have today. Despite this, making ‘St Barnabas Rose' uses modern patchwork techniques including hand and machine piecing and appliqué to achieve a beautiful, timeless quilt. The quilt uses a variety of fabrics to achieve controlled scrappy effect. Finished size 81" x 81".
