This quilt was inspired by a Caesar's Crown quilt made in Pennsylvania, USA, in the 1800's which used colours and fabrics typically used by the Pennsylvania Dutch.
My quilt consists of a central hand appliquéd block, straight set, in a medallion style with a pieced diamond border finished with two borders of hand pieced Caesar's Crown blocks. The quilt is enhanced with appliquéd leaves at the junctions of the blocks.
The quilt uses a variety of fabrics to achieve controlled scrappy effect. Finished quilt size - 84" x 84".
