This quilt was inspired by a love of the antique quilts from the 19th century, in particular blocks featuring eight pointed stars. The centre 'Primrose Star' block is a derivative of a block which I used in the first quilt I ever taught as a quilt teacher. The remaining blocks feature a Le Moyne Star in the middle from which diamonds extend to a square in the block corner. Callington is scappy in nature to show off the fabrics in this beautiful fabric collection, Callington Mill, which was designed by Leonie Bateman. The quilt is hand pieced using custom designed acrylic templates due to the number of 'Y' seams. Use of the templates is recommended for ease of cutting and accuracy of piecing the Callington quilt.
